Who We Are

Advent Consulting Associates is a privately held enterprise, established in 2005.  Our professionals offer expertise in experimental and quasi-experimental research design for analysis of social policy, program evaluation, and data-based improvement initiatives. 

Applied Field and Organizational Research 

We have extensive experience in interviewing of stakeholders and subject matter experts, focus group facilitation, survey design and analysis, and other forms of data collection for quantitative and qualitative analysis.

Leadership and Management Development 

We have worked with many public and private sector organizations to analyze and improve leadership skills for executives and managers.  We tailor our techniques to the specific needs of the organization and clientele, including analyses of the organization's future needs, critical competencies, and structured developmental planning.

Change and Process Facilitation 

We bring extensive experience in the guidance and facilitation of organizational change, including strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, capacity analysis, employee involvement, quality improvement, and management development.

Stakeholder Perceptions 

We offer expertise in measuring public perceptions and reactions to services and programs.  We apply practical techniques for identifying, analyzing, and improving processes that link to public services.

Psychometric Skills 

We offer the ability to custom-design instruments to measure psychological constructs of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and opinions for applied, action-oriented research.  We offer both quantitative and qualitative approaches to occupational and job analysis, and comprehensive research programs for test validation.

Jerry Bowers, Ph.D., is the General Manager of Advent Consulting Associates. His background includes human resources management and consulting for large organizations across the country.  He earned his doctorate in industrial and organizational psychology from the University of South Florida. 

Jerry's areas of expertise include psychometric theory and applications, organizational assessment and analysis, organizational development, human resources management, and applied research methodologies.

In addition to consulting, Dr. Bowers has served as an adjunct professor in the Keller Graduate School of Management and at the University of San Francisco.  While at USF, Jerry authored a published textbook on the application of statistics for modern quality control.

Verne Bowers is the Director of Nonprofit Development for Advent Consulting.  Verne's expertise includes needs analysis, program design, formulation of policies and procedures, strategic planning, campaign organizing and grant writing.  Verne recently served on the Bishop's Pastoral Council for the Diocese of Sacramento, and she previously served on the Board of Directors for Cristo Rey Catholic High School in Sacramento.  She has a Bachelor's Degree in English from the College of the Holy Spirit in the Philippines, a Paralegal Certificate from UC Berkeley, and expertise in Tagalog.
